  Think Outside the DVD

In 1977, director Robert Altman made the film "3 Women" starring a number of little known actors, including Sissy Spacek and Shelley Duvall.

Spacek stars as Pinky, an awkward young teenager who begins working at a spa in the California desert. She quickly becomes overly attached to fellow spa attendant, Millie (Duvall) and soon becomes Millie's roommate. Mille is a lonely outcast who desperately tries to win the attention of others with constant upbeat chatter about nothing. Pinky and Millie hang out at a bar owned by a quiet pregnant artist and her no-good, has-been cowboy husband. After a number of emotional crises, the three women cross boundaries and blend each other's personalities until they settle into a bizarre family unit that appears to give each woman what she has been searching for.
